While some people thrive off heading to the gym and working out, it’s definitely not for everyone. If you’re the kind of person that dreads the gym but enjoys exercising, you may want to consider an alternative. You can burn calories and work up a sweat from any of these three places.
A Beach
One thing definitely missing from a traditional gym is fresh air and sunshine. On a beautiful day, who wants to be inside? A beach is a great place to workout and maybe even get better exercise than normal. The sand will force you to use different muscles, and the sun is sure to help you sweat out those extra pounds.
The Park
Head to a local park if you don’t live near the beach but still want to embrace the sun and fresh air. Walking and running are options, but you can also do strength training on playgrounds or picnic tables. And don’t worry if it rains, you’re going to sweat anyway!
Your House
Homebodies can be fit too! The best part about exercising at home is that there’s no commute and no strangers. If you have a basement or corner of a room, you can create a space to exercise at home. Free weights and an exercise ball can be enough to provide a full-body workout without walking out the door!
Working out at the beach with waves crashing in the background sounds a lot better than being in a gym listening to grunts and weights dropping, doesn’t it? We encourage you to explore options for working out beyond a traditional gym. But remember, it doesn’t matter where it happens at the end of the day, so long as you stay moving!
